Introduction
My name is Caitlin Schneider and I am a Junior Letters Constitutional Studies Major. The best thing about my major is its small size. I love it when I walk into my classes and know almost everyone there. I would like to eventually to litigation and I am leaning towards international litigation.
I graduated high school from a tiny school (59 in my graduating class) in Kansas, but I lived most of my life in Washington State, in the suburbs of Seattle. I chose OU because I did not like KU. Their campus culture didn't feel like home, and it was really hilly. Also, I lived way to close (only about 45 minutes away) and wanted more of an adventure.
I have six pets-- two dogs-- Tar and Roxy-- and my sister's cat gave birth to four kittens this summer that I hand raised. Tar is a sweet, gentle giant but he is so needy for attention, it can be rough. I love him, but he is very big and will climb into my lap and then I can't breathe. Roxy is sassy as her name suggests. She has small dog syndrome very bad and believes she is the alpha of the house. The kittens idolize Tar and act very much like him, so they behave like a weird dog/cat hybrid. They wag their tails!

Hi Caitlin! Your major sounds really interesting! I think it would be so cool to be an international litigator. I bet you would get to travel to some really awesome places- and you get paid while you do it. Also, I think it's awesome that you have so many pets around the house! I have a dog just like Tar at home, so I definitely understand what you're going through there. It's so sweet that the kittens love him and follow him around; that must be so cute to watch!
ReplyDeleteHey Caitlin!
ReplyDeleteI always joke that Oklahoma is the national pancake of the U.S. because of how flat the land is here - certainly not hilly, as you mention KU's campus being! I've never been to Washington State, but I'm from very closeby to the other Washington [D.C. :)] My cousins recently moved to Seattle though, and I'm hoping to visit them soon! It's so sweet that you hand-raised the kittens - I'm sure you've created quite the bond with them! I imagine it has been a wonderfully fluffy and rewarding experience.
Hi Caitlin,
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of that major at OU, that's super cool that you're able to meet people and see someone you know in all of your classes! I went to a small high school as well but a little bigger, we had 100 students in our grad class. I love animals and that's so fun you were able to hang out with kittens during the summer! That's so cute that the kittens learned how to wag their tails. I hope you have a great semester!
Hi Caitlin,
ReplyDeleteThat pic is cute, never been able to get one of those to work. When I first came to OU the Letters major confused me so much! It took me 2 semesters to figure out what exactly it was. It is so cute that the kittens to a liking to Tar. That is so sweet and my dog has been around small dogs her whole life so she thinks she can sit on our laps and squeeze her way onto the couch, when she is the size of a full grown lab.
Hi Caitlin!
ReplyDeleteFirst, I love the picture that you posted! I didn't get to do a first day of school pic this year, and I'm a little jealous. Your major seems really hard. I'm an engineering major, so I'm about as far away from your major as I can get, and I like that because it seems really hard. International Litigation seems like an adventure filled career path, and the places that will take you are probably going to be amazing! I would bet that you have quite the journey ahead of you and I hope it takes you to amazing places!!
Hi Caitlin! It is so much fun meeting up with you again... and watching you levitate in midair, ha ha: that is a genius picture! Beautiful! And I really like how you did the Indian adventure last time, but now you can settle down for a semester of Romans and new stories to tell (plus maybe your tail-wagging dog-cats can make an appearance in a story here at your blog sometime).
ReplyDeleteAnd small majors are great (I was the only Polish major at Berkeley... which was a little too small, h aha). I think there are two other Constitutional Studies majors in class, so maybe you all know each other...? Here they are: Introduction to Derek the Letters Major and Patrick...a story of creation (whom you would know as Albert...). Anyway, I hope you have fun with all the stories this semester!
Hi Caitlin!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool how you know almost everyone in your classes. I'm sure that makes class a lot more fun! I'm a math major, so I'll often see a few of the same people my classes too. I can't imagine going to a high school that small, but it must have been to fun know more people in each grade. Six pets?? That is my dream! If you wanted to do a blog post about them with lots of pictures, I would love to read it. :)
Hi Catlin!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of you and your roommates on the first day of school. It's so fun! I can definitely relate to enjoying a small major. I am a Religious Studies major and I always appreciate it when I know a lot of people in my classes. I also enjoyed reading about your six pets. It would be cool if you added pictures of them.
Hey there Caitlin! Thank you for sharing a little bit of who you are with us! I really loved the pictures of your animals included in your post, and Roxy is so adorable! She reminds me of my yorkie named Jessie, who also has small dog syndrome. It is so funny to watch them act like they are on top of the world when they are just so little. I wish you the best for the rest of the semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Caitlin! I loved the picture of you and your roomies! So cute! I also loved the pictures of your dogs! They are all sooooo cute as well! I loved each little excerpt about what each of them are like- it made me feel like I really got to know them a little! Thanks for sharing a little about yourself!
ReplyDeleteHi Caitlin!
ReplyDeleteI also came to OU from a small high school, I only had 15 people in my graduating class. I love that you were brave enough to come to such a large university, I know how scary that can be! I also have a small dog named Roxy! It is crazy to find these kinds of connections. Excited to read your work!
Howdy Caitlin,
ReplyDeleteI think that it is cool that you were able to come from a small school and be able to keep that same small school vibe within the largeness of OU. I came from a small school myself but had to quickly adjust to all of my classes that were two to three times as large as my graduating class. Six pets sound like a lot, but I bet they are a lot of fun at the same time.
Hey Caitlin! Your pets are all so cute! I also graduated from a small high school--there were only five of us. I have found that being a part of a small major really helps to make the adjustment to college easier if you came from a small school. I hope you're enjoying all of your classes, and good luck in your studies! It sounds like you're going to do great things with your degree!
ReplyDeleteHello Caitlyn,
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute introduction! I love it. Your major does sound very niche. I have never heard of it, but it is great that you have found a good group. I am also from a very small town (graduated with 57) so I understand how you feel! I graduate this semester so I am excited to get out of Oklahoma and try for a new adventure myself. I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your degree.
Hi Caitlin! Your major sounds so interesting and it's awesome that you have smaller class sizes. I too love being in a smaller class because I find that I can focus better that way but unfortunately, I'm on the pre-med track so a lot of my classes are huge lectures. It's nice to see someone else that comes from a small high school. I graduated with about 60 people in my class so that's probably where my enjoyment of smaller class sizes comes from. I hope you have a great rest of the semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Caitlin, letters constitutional studies major is the best! In the words of Dr. Harper, "We are the chosen ones!" There are things in letters that I learned that cannot be learned anywhere else and I will continue to carry those lessons from my readings the rest of my life! I hope you had an awesome semester and that you project turned out great! I'm almost done with my stuff but I'm excited to read your story!
ReplyDeleteHey Caitlin!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason in high school, I really wanted to go to KU (totally random since I'm from Dallas). But I totally agree, I visited and the culture just didn't feel like home to me. I ended up visiting OU next and LOVED it! So here I am. Also, your dogs are so cute. I hope you had a great semester!
Hi Caitlin!
ReplyDeleteI also graduated from high school with a relatively small class, so I totally understand why you wanted more of an adventure for your college experience. I did too! I am so jealous that you lived near Seattle! I have always wanted visit Seattle because I think that the city is absolutely stunning. Additionally, I am a huge fan of Starbucks and Grey's Anatomy. Good luck this semester!
Hey Caitlin! I hope you've finished your class by this time during the semester. Unfortunately, I haven't finished mine yet. I'm in the Epics of India class. I like your introduction, though Roxy doesn't look very fluffy in the picture you have for her. The odds of you seeing this comment are low, but that's how it is this time of the semester. I hope you finish your semester strong!
